The reviews of Ignatian spirituality currently available are in many ways admirable, but they cannot provide the kind of space needed for research articles and for studies in depth. Quite often authors of such studies find it difficult to get their work published. Because the established reviews are aimed at a wide public, it is brief pieces that authors are invited to publish, avoiding specialist language. The result is that specialist works are not published at all, or else make only a guest appearance, so to speak, in more devotional reviews. The inevitable result, without anyone quite wanting it, is that people wanting to reflect theologically on Ignatian spiritual experience lack a forum, and their work appears in scattered places. Ignaziana is providing a natural space for specialist material inspired by Ignatius, and thereby hoping to fill this gap.
